TENT SIZE RECOMMENDATION FOR CYCLING

Deciding on the right size tent for your adventure

Negotiating technical climbs whilst carrying your daily gear and facing extreme weather systems means packing compact, lightweight and durable gear is a must. Crucially, your tent must be able to be set up quickly and easily, especially if you’re planning on pitching in tight spaces.

No of People

Tent Size Recommendation

1 Person Tent (with large vestibule space) or an Ultralight 2 Person Tent

2 Person Tent (with large vestibules) or a 3 Person Tent (with vestibules)

4 Person Tent (with large vestibule spaces)

With this form of travel we would recommend splitting up the party into smaller groups and having more than one tent.

WHICH SEASON TENT FOR CYCLING

Keeping warm and dry after a long day cycling!

Depending on the location and time of year you’re looking at cycling can ultimately affect which seasoned tent would be ideal for you.  A 3 Seasoned tent would be more than suitable for temperate weather systems but for more extreme weather conditions, including heavy snow, high winds and extreme wet weather a 4 season tent would be more suitable.

WHICH STYLE TENT FOR CYCLING

Deciding on the right style tent for your adventure

As mentioned, there are now some fantastically designed tents offering specifically extended built vestibule areas for storing your bicycle during the night – great for security and peace of mind! It also gives you a great place for general gear storage or just liveable space where you can cook and relax in the protection of your porch!

Otherwise, optimised symmetrical geometric, geodesic, semi-geodesic tents are among the most sought after tent shape for your cycling adventure. An Optimised Symmetrical Geometric / Geodesic / Semi-geodesic tent shape offer good strength and stability. Designed with extra poles and multiple cross over points and plentiful guys and offer a decent head height and a spacious interior feeling.  They offer a comfortable camping experience. Normally two walled, in warmer weathers you can remove your fly sheet to keep cool.
